character information
name: Markus
canon: Detroit: Become Human
canon point: As he and Carl return home in the chapter “Broken”. As in, he has not become deviant
age: Unknown. He is a prototype gifted to Carl by Elijah Kamski, but canon isn't clear on when Markus was made

(canon) background: http://detroit-become-human.wikia.com/wiki/Markus

abilities: Preconstruction: Markus is able to analyze his surroundings and calculate the best path forward, running through multiple scenarios in an instant. Once he has determined the best approach, he can easily execute it.

Physical dexterity and strength: Markus is able to do all sorts of parkour, like scaling building walls, jumping over distances and so forth. And because he is an android, he never tires or becomes out of breath.

Hacking: Markus can override machine programming by touching it with a de-skinned hand and relay new orders. This ability will obviously be debuffed or dependent on permission.

Conversion: Markus can “free” an android from their programming and make them self-aware. This is another ability that will be debuffed.

Vocal mimicry: Markus is able to perfectly replicate any voice he hears.

Network communication: Markus can communicate with other androids through their network. It works in a similar way to telepathic communication. He can also directly link with tech like phones to call the police, for example, or other networks to order supplies and make payments.

Creativity: Despite being an android, Markus has the ability to create art without copying something that already exists.

strengths: Being Carl's caretaker gives Markus a strong degree of kindness. He is gentle but firm, insisting on Carl taking his medication even if the man is reluctant. He is concerned for the man's health and always does what he can to help, though never forces Carl into anything. For example, when Carl wanted scotch, Markus reminded him of his doctor's orders but didn't insist on following them.

While it's true that his programming makes him obedient, the way he speaks to Carl suggests a deeper bond. Markus is shown to actually love Carl, seeing him as a father figure. This causes him to indulge in Carl's stubbornness more than other androids might. He's also loyal and protective, willing to take abuse from Leo to not upset Carl.

Markus is also patient and even-tempered, likely a result of his function as a caretaker for Carl. Markus doesn't get frustrated or upset with Carl even when the man acts stubborn. He is able to remain calm even in tense situations. An example of this is his interactions with Leo. He speaks calmly and rationally to the man and doesn't deviate even when pushed around.

weaknesses: Since he has not deviated yet, Markus is submissive when it comes to humans. He takes whatever physical or verbal abuse they may throw at him without any reaction and he never tries to speak up or fight back. He is actually physically incapable of going outside his orders and mission parameters.

Markus lives a fairly privileged and sheltered life with Carl. Because of this, he wasn't exposed to the worst of humanity and maintained a certain amount of naivety. He doesn't have a clear picture of how fellow androids are treated. While he is aware of hostility against androids, he rarely experiences it himself. Because of this, he as a sort of innocence about him.

Markus is very unsure of himself, especially as it pertains to emotions. He has trouble expressing desires or personal interests. He was very unsure when Carl encouraged him to express himself artistically. Androids aren't meant to experience emotions so if prompted to do so, Markus can't quite understand and the powerful ones can confuse him.

job skills (optional): Markus basically acted as Carl's personal assistant. His duties included but were not limited to: picking up store orders, cooking, cleaning, administering medication, assisting Carl with bathing and using the bathroom, answering fan mail and taking phone messages.
housing (optional): He won't have a preference and depending on where his job lands, he might end up staying with his boss

network username: markus

network sample: [Markus is used to networks that he can just access with his mind palace. Having a device is unusual for him]

Hello. My name is Markus. This is not how I normally access information, but I've been told this is a reliable source. I would like information regarding the art gallery. Am I allowed access to it? I haven't seen any signs to tell me.

prose/action sample: Markus stood at the entrance to the cultural exchange, his LED flashing yellow as he processed this new information. He wasn't accustomed to so many parts of a city being open to him. There were no Android Only areas, no one angry at his presence. He couldn't understand it.

He was at a loss now. He followed the instructions given to him up to this point, but the next instruction, “explore the city”, was so open-ended. Could he really go anywhere? Without restrictions and without risk of assault. He had difficulty computing such a thing.
